Blacksmith Experience Day – Hook & Poker

When you make your payment, we will email you a voucher for your ‘Experience Day’. You will need to email us to arrange a date. We will do our best to arrange a day that works for you before, but spaces are limited so we recommend booking early to secure your date.

If the Experience Day is a present, we will honour the same terms for the lucky person you are giving the voucher to, but they will need to confirm the email address used to buy the experience when they book their place.

On this one day experience day you will make a poker for a fire and a hook to hang it from. This is the perfect gift for someone wanting to have their first try at blacksmithing or that man in your life that loves his fire! The end of the poker can be left pointed for an open fire or bent over for better use on a log stove. This course covers forging, a range of free hand forming on the anvil, former/jig use in the vice and the use of a variety of hand tools

This course is run with a maximum of 6 participants.

On this course you will also:

• Have an introduction chat and a brew
• Be given a workshop tour
• Attend a thorough safety talk and be provided with PPE
• Receive practical demonstrations throughout the day
• Receive attentive tutoring and guidance
• Make use of your own gas forge, anvil and hand tools
• Be provided with a hearty stew or lunch (root vegetables chickpea and spices)
• Forge steel into items that will last a life time

15-17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult that participates in the day. In this instance please purchase two vouchers.
